DO NOT BUY A PRINTER FROM DELL! We originally purchased a Dell 1815 MFP from Dell. This machine was the biggest P.O.S. I've ever worked with. It was constantly disconnecting randomly from the server, making the scan function completely useless for us. (Unless we wanted to scan to a computer and then move everything over to the server.) There were also problems with the 1815's envelope grabber- it always jammed. Our IT guy called Dell numerous times for the same problems, and each time they just sent us a new machine. When that new machine came, we'd end up swapping one problem for a new one. After several of these calls, Dell decides they're going to send a Dell 2335dn MFP. They claimed this one was newer, had more bells and whistles, and didn't have the problems that the 1815 had. Boy were they wrong!
We are on our 3rd Dell 2335dn. It is constantly just freezing up and the screen says "Initializing" like it does when you start up, but during this time you can't print, scan, or accept faxes and it won't snap out on its own. You have to turn it on, wait a bit and then turn it back on. Each time I called Dell Tech Support, I was on the phone 30-60 minutes and had to deal with outsourced folk in India who didn't know anything about the way the machine even works and were never able to tell me if this is a common problem with these machines.
At first, I opted to have a Dell tech come to work on the machine. Why pay our IT guy to come fix it if it was still under warranty, right? Wrong! Twice, they sent someone out, that person replaced some parts, and twice the printer still froze up! Finally, I gave in and just asked them to send a replacement. Our warranty is almost up, so I wanted to take advantage of it while we could. But, alas, even with a brand new machine, it still continues to freeze up. I will never purchase a Dell printer again, either for business or personal use.
