We leave the printer on 24-7, the printer sleeps when it is not in use for a period of time. Yes, it takes a minute to warm up if you print and the printer is in sleep mode. This I believe is standard for a network laser printer. Once we start using, it prints and scans very fast from any of the four pc's on our network. The scanner is quite good, I was surprised that a duel function [printer / scanner] scanner was of this quality. The printer comes with the ink toner kit. We are very happy with this printer, and would recommend to anyone looking for a small business or home network printer.
