First thing I noticed when I took it out of the box and set it up is the cheap feel and quality of the materials especially the handset which also did not work properly. I got a lot of static from the handset making it impossible to talk on the phone. Since you need the handset to record the outgoing message for the answer machine I was not able to get a clear message recorded. But that was not the only problem out of the box, I was never able to get a single fax printed because I kept getting paper jams. The print ribbon would get rolled up with the paper and jam the machine. It was a total waste of time. Definitely not worth $180. I had the machine delivered at my office and when the secretary saw it she said "Oh no, you got a Brother, they're nothing but trouble." I only wish I would have talked to her before I ordered it.
