(More customer reviews)There are three major brands of file folder labels:
1. Avery® White File Folder Labels for Laser and Inkjet Printers with TrueBlock Technology, 2/3 inch x 3-7/16 inch, Box of 1500 (5366)
2. 3M Permanent Adhesive File Folder Labels, 0.6 x 3.4 Inches White, Laser/Inkjet, 750 labels per pack (3300-H)
3. Post-it (R) Super Sticky Removable File Folder Labels, 0.6 x 3.4 Inches , White, 750 labels (2100-H)
1. They all stick well to manila folders.
2. You can download templates from Microsoft or 3M web sites and then print different labels on each sheet. To print the same text on each label you can use the Avery 5366 template in Microsoft Word label template for all of them.
3. Although they are marketed are as file folders, they can be used for a variety of purposes. I use them as address labels, jar labels, drawer labels etc.
4. None of them jammed in my 3 different Dell laser printers or Brother or Samsung laser printers.
The only differentiating quality between these three label brands is really the brightness. 3M labels are the brightest white, followed by Avery and then Post-It.
For me the bottom-line really comes down to price. As of February 6, 2010 per label cost is 1.99 cent for Post-It, 1.83 cents for Avery, and 1.73 cents for 3M. Being brightest and least expensive, 3M Permanent Adhesive File Folder Labels, 0.6 x 3.4 Inches White, Laser/Inkjet, 750 labels per pack (3300-H) are clearly the best buy.
UPDATE JUNE 2010:Now only the Avery labels are eligible for Amazon Prime. For others 3M & Post-It you have to pay the shipping. This changes the price equation completely. At the time of this update in mid June, Avery labels are the least expensive at 1.03 cents a label. 3M are 1.73 cents and Post-It are most expensive at 2.09 cents a label.
