This product is advertised as a high yield unit and has run dry after 500+ pages (little more than a ream of paper) of printing (text only). I believe the old adage goes, "you get what you pay for"? I might have gotten more out of an ink jet unit. Don't waist your time.

It fit my printer, which calls for these toners, only after I took the Dremmel and cut off part of the drum and two pieces off of the toner housing itself. Now that it is installed it is very hard to read if you try going "50% mode" like you can with the original toner cartridges. Next time I will pass on the generic!

Brother Intl CYAN TONER CARTRIDGE ( TN04C ) Review

(More customer reviews)I paid extra and purchased a new Brother brand toner because I wanted to be sure I had no problems. In spite of that, the Cyan cartridge leaked in the machine. I called Brother support: I was instructed to perform several procedures (most of which I had already done) to confirm the printer was okay. After weeks of back and forth, I was told that the toner and the printer were out of warranty. I was welcome to pay the authorized service shop to inspect and clean my printer, and was advise that I was stuck with the leaking toner. Very frustrating. . . . Fast forward to the end: with the assistance of Amazon's customer support, we were able to get the toner replaced. The replacement cartridge (and three passes at cleaning my printer) solved the problem.
Lessons learned:
1. purchase your toner cartridges just before you install them - don't let them sit on the shelf long enough to risk going over the 90 day warranty
2. I can't rely on Brother customer / technical support for urgent resolution or problem ownership. Local support is only through authorized service shops. If you aren't willing to deal with that, then consider a service contract.
3. Amazon's customer support is outstanding. Consider engaging them if your seller, vendor, or manufacturer fails you on a product you bought through Amazon. Be sure to document all of your interactions.
I will probably still purchase Brother toner (from Amazon), but will not assume they are perfect. I will be sure to install them within 30 days of receipt. My page volume is low enough that paying a little extra for a new cartridge is not a big deal.

(More customer reviews)The toner cartridge worked well when I installed it, but it developed a problem. When I contacted Inkers they sent a replacement immediately and emailed me a prepaid UPS return shipping label for the first cartridge.
It's unfortunate that the first cartridge was faulty, but Inkers's response was top notch, and I'm printing away with no problems. I recommend them highly.

(More customer reviews)[Written 9/02] We have owned a Brother HL-1670N double-sided network laser printer for just over a year. We're just on our second TN-560 toner cartridge, so we don't have a broad experience base to judge against. However, the first one lasted 3,969 pages.. ..not bad considering how much graphics (B/W brochures, etc) we print. After the second cartridge was put in, there are random small marks on the page, maybe flecks of toner or paper just needs to be vacuumed out.
Overall, this printer (toner/drum/etc.) has been one of the best office equipment investments we've made.
[Update 11/03] Our second cartridge lasted 5,465 pages.

One of the most important reasons I originally decided to purchase this machine was to escape the netherworld of inkjet cartridges. With a rating of 1.6 cents per sheet, not only do you save money in the long run but you avoid scrubbing and cleaning and cursing every three months. Being that some competitors cartridges fetch upwards of 100$ this tidy component suits me fine and often I get more than my 3000 sheet rating.

(More customer reviews)This unit will give you a replace drum indication via a simple page counter @ 20,000. If you do regular printing - simple forms, invoices, etc. and don't print a lot of greyscale, like photos and such, you can easily get 36,000 to 42,000 pages. When you start to get streaking or little sploches or dots of toner, then replace. I have done this many times and it doesn't hurt a thing as long as you have a new drum ready to go when the defects show up. Save some money & the environment!

We have four Brother MFC-9700 models at my work, and they have been quite good. After about a year, a few of them have developed a vertical splotchy line. Upon inspection, there was excess toner on the green drum inside the drum unit. After wiping it off it would work for a while but came back soon after.
I learned that the drum unit is a wear and tear item and needs replacing once a year or less if you use it alot. As the reviewer above noted, the separate drum and toner units on the Brother Laser machines prevent you from having to buy both together each time you are out of toner, but you will need to replace the drum unit at some point. This solution is quite elegant as the drum unit has a much longer life than the toner cartridge and makes for cheaper toner cartridges.
This replacement drum will solve the vertical line and other issues. Great price here on Amazon as well, almost half the price our local printer fix-it shop wanted.

(More customer reviews)I Have been using Brother laser printers which use this cartridge for about 7 years. GREAT PRODUCT. In fact the Brother multi function machine I currently use is a (now discontinued) MFC 9600. It has now been replaced with the nearly identical MFC 9700. I have had it for some 5 years with regular use and it works flawlesly. I use about 3 or 4 TN460 cartridges per year. Brother seems to be about the only manufacturer which provides a decent economical value for laser toner. Yes their printers/multi function machines cost a little more initially, but, do the long term math. You pay dearly in toner costs down the road with other better known or more highly publisized brands. I am continually surprised when I inquire at any office supply store about the cost per print or cost of operation of any given laser printer. The sales people are baffled, and never seem to know. This to me is THE question to ask. And, with the cost a some excellent full featured heavy duty Brother multifunction machines (fax scanner laser printer) very close to $300, it really does not make any sense to buy anything else if you are a small business home office with fairly regular laser/fax usage. Yes you might get a laser printer for $100 less. But after a few cartridges, you will wish you had a Brother using this economical cartridge.
