(More customer reviews)I love these headphones and their non-mic'ed little brothers.
The mic/headphone is small and simple enough to put in a briefcase and keep there until needed. On the road they provide both good headphone ability and pass-able microphone recording ability. All while not getting tangled (and therefore broken cords) and taking up a minimum amount of space.
If you are the type that demands $100 headphones or a studio quality mic, these are not for you.
And admittedly I would not use these for important client interviews. But, if I am traveling for a day or two and need to use VoIP, or talk to someone who can handle a lower quality mic (e.g., co-workers, family, friends, etc.) they work very well. The quality can be increased by raising the mic to your mouth.
The in-ear headphones provide good isolation from outside noise (e.g., airport, kids, etc.)
As with all retractable headphones/cables, eventually the retractable portion will break (happens much faster for the headphone-only versions that got used every day) and the cables will just snap back into the coil. (Which is why I stopped using the headphone only version of these.) The problem usually is that the ball bearing jumps out of the plastic track it rides in because the edges of the plastic track wears down. To "fix" this, peel off the manufacture's label, and remove the small Philips head screw that holds everything together. Throw away all the parts related to the spring (you'll never get that back together anyhow) and keep the now un-retractable cable/headphones/mic.
