New Portable MP3 CD Player Boombox USB SD MMC Input NR Review

New Portable MP3 CD Player Boombox USB SD MMC Input NR
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This has been one of my most regretted purchases ever. The USB socket died after the first month. The MP3 decoder is incredibly buggy -- the many songs (even whole albums) it wouldn't play turned out to be the ones with album art embedded in the tags, and I suspect that the developer had never heard of VBR, either, because some of the songs are cut off and others continue silently long after they are done. Most songs begin with 2-second previews of music from the upcoming song, except in "random play" mode, where there are random chunks of the preceding song between songs. The "random play" mode, by the way, isn't very random; it mixes up the songs, yes, but in exactly the same order every time, and only for the entire CD -- there's no folder randomization.
All-in-all, this purchase was a huge mistake, and has just about convinced me to get an iPod and a dock, next time.

Sharp UXB20 Inkjet Fax Machine Review

Sharp UXB20 Inkjet Fax Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Sharp UX-B20 fax machine is easy to set up, does all that I want in a fax machine, prints on plain paper, and uses an ink jet cartridge rather than the hard-to-install roll of ink film. Also, the design of the machine is the "cleanest" and most compact I've seen. The ink cartridge is expensive, about twice as expensive as a roll of ink film. However, it will last about 500 sheets whereas a roll of ink film will only last about 250 sheets. So, the cost of the cartridge is very comparable. Rolls of film are usually about half the cost of the cartridge. Half the cost, but only half the number of sheets!! I like this machine!!

Samsung ML-2510 Monochrome Compact Personal Laser Printer Review

I am having the same paper feed issues as some of the other reviewers and it has been only a year (I print very occasionally). It worked great at first and I was really pleased it printed amazingly fast and I thought it was perfect for my needs. But now it is impossible to use, extremely unreliable, I never know when it will work or not. Paper feed stopped working and it does not matter what I do I can't get it working again.

The Samsung ML-2510 monochrome compact personal laser printer is an ideal choice for small offices or home offices with little extra space. The printer is so small it can easily perch beside your filing cabinet or right on top of your desk. The trim proportions of the ML-2510 ensure that it works in every place, every situation. Speed is another impressive aspect of the ML-2510. Clocking in at up to 25 pages per minute, its printing rate compares favorably even next to professional-grade printers.
With a resolution of 1200 by 600 dpi, prints come out clear and crisp. Bothersome paper jams that stall print jobs and make copying tasks a headache are now eliminated with the built-in jam-free roller system. The printer works with Windows XP, Macintosh OS X, and Linux operating systems. It has 8 MB memory and can be placed in an Ethernet network environment with an optional networking accessory. Measuring just 13.9 by 11.7 by 9.7 inches, the printer features a handy USB 2.0 connection.

For those who regularly ship through the USPS or even UPS, this little machine will save you time and money. It holds large rolls of labels and requires NO ink. There are no ink refill costs. With very few moving parts, there are less opportunities for malfunction or breakage. Used and refurbished units are generally a safe buy. I've been using a refurbished machine for 2 years and have printed thousands and thousands of labels with NO issues. I would suggest that one conduct thorough research as prices for these machines can vary greatly - especially for not-new machines. I would also suggest that users consider investing in better quality labels for shipping use. Cheaper labels seem to print less darkly than those that are higher quality. Lastly, extended exposure to intense sunlight or heat and the gum of most tape will darken thermal labels. To keep from losing your printed information (and addresses) refrain from taping over the labels and avoid extended exposure to intense sunlight and heat.
As far as specifics go, I use the Zebra LP 2844 thermal printer with a desktop PC and Endicia postage software.

Closeout deal on Zebra LP 2844s. The Zebra LP2844 is the ideal label printer for shipping labels.Since thermal printers "burn" images no more money spent on ink cartridges. The LP2844 prints 4 inches per second, USB, parallel or serial port. These overstock Zebra 2844 printers all come from a cancelled contract and have minimal use. They needed to closeout these thermal printers so we are offering them at clearance savings. Great deal if you don't mind very minor scuffs, these are all repackaged and fully tested functioning as new. The kit picture above is expandable and is representative of what you'll receive.Everything is included to get you started right away including a roll of 4X6 direct thermals, USB and parallel printer cable, power, and a start up cd with resources for saving money on shipping, soft copy of the manual as well as the drivers for all windows OS back to WIN95. UPS and other shippers will provide free labels for this printer. If you ship via UPS, FedEx or USPS this is a great investment.Regular retail price is $575. We figure we save about $400 in shipping costs every month by using a thermal printer, free labels and a USPS affiliate program. If you ship via USPS we will provide you with the necessary information to get you started printing "stealth postage". Allows you to print your postage without printing the cost of the stamp. Samsung Monochrome Multifunction Laser Printer (SCX-4826FN) Review

Samsung Monochrome Multifunction Laser Printer (SCX-4826FN)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros:
-Samsung packs a lot of value into their machines. I paid about $50 less than it is currently going for here.
-Network scanning actually works well!; unlike many network MFPs.(Buying a standalone network scanner that works this well would cost more than this machine-though it does not have auto duplex scanning like some costlier devices)
-Direct to USB scanning and direct from USB printing might be useful for some.
-Duplex printing works well and saves paper- more mid-range printers should come with this feature.
(note: if you have ever used a printer with duplexing capabilities before you will have no trouble enabling this feature.)
-Most setting are easily configurable with the web interface so that you need not scroll through multiple menus on the machine itself.
-Has powerful scan to email features usually only found on high end office machines.
-Handles standard envelopes better than I expected.
Cons:
-Samsung documentation is not for the uninitiated.
-By default it installs some not very useful programs (a quicklaunch toolbar and a printer status monitor)
-Does not support Postscript (you need to pay a little extra for the Samsung SCX-4828 Laser Multi-Function Printerfor this feature- that's the only difference between them).
-For some strange reason you cannot scan to B&W PDF directly from the machine. You can scan to color or grayscale PDF, or you can scan to B&W PDF from your computer, but not directly from the machine. No idea why.
-Generally, MFPs do not last as long as regular printers, and are a pain to fix if they break. Think of it this way: If the chance of a printer breaking within 3 years is 1/100, and the chance of a scanner breaking is 1/100, then the chance of a MFP breaking is 1/50.
Workarounds:
-If you connect this to your computer via USB (presumably you bought this for its network capabilities so you would normally have it connected via Ethernet) you can flash the device with the firmware from the 4828FN to enable postscript emulation. This will undoubtedly void your warranty. You can then manually install the 4828FN postscript printer driver and configure it to print to the correct port. (The only reason I did this is because samsung previously had incorrectly listed this machine as having PS support before I bought it)
-If you only need network scanning and printing (not faxing) and do your scanning with programs you already have (such as Acrobat or Omnipage) then I highly recommend installing only the printer and scanner drivers and forgetting about the rest.
-A generally good idea with network printers is to configure them to use a static IP address (outside the normally assigned range) even if your network is running on DHCP. This will potentially avoid many headaches down the line.
Bottom Line: A great value if you know what you need and know what you are doing.

We've put this all-in-one to the test for a couple weeks now - and we love it. We use it from three systems in the house, one running Vista, the other two running XP. HP's support for Vista has to be downloaded. It is really stupid that they haven't updated the CD in the box by now, not made the download idiot-proof (or even close). Downloading and using the Vista update is a little challenging - but it works.
Three KILLER featurs:
(1) two sided printing
It's about time we had an inkjet printer to do this!!!
(2) scanning to directories on our machine (to directories on Vista, which are password protected - nevertheless very easy to setup)
You load documents, push a button, select one of 10 preset places to scan to - and press START - the files show up as PDF (color) in the directory.
I've scanned stacks of onesided, stack of two sided, and a bunch of odd-and-ends receipts on the flatbed (one hint: tell it what size you are scanning on the flatbed, and it will double its speed because it won't scan to figure out the size and then scan for real).
(3) It is a network printer - so it is NOT dependent on any one computer being turned on - it is on our home network and simply receives and prints print jobs.
It is FAST (in draft mode). Very very fast, and good output (some unevenness - which is fine). In normal mode, it is slower and the output is excellent.
It is a tad noisy sometimes. It was very noisy during setup, and any time it is powered up and seems to sort itself out internally. This worried us at first, but it seemed to only be a setup issue - and not during regular printing. It is not a silent printer - but not excessively noisy either. If you want "laser printer level quiet" - this is not it - it is certainly not that quiet or smooth.
I do recommend HP fix their Vista downloads to be reasonable to us - it is embarrassing. It is also disappointing they haven't gotten around to updating their CD in the box.
The product is good. We've used the scanner, printer and FAX features well enough to be sure this is a winner.

The HP Officejet Pro L7650 All-in-One series features the world's fastest desktop all-in-one for business color. (1) As a result, you can print professional-looking documents at Laser Quality Speeds: up to 10 pages-per-minute (ppm) in color. With a cost-per-page that's up to 25 percent lower than comparable laser all-in-ones, HP made high-quality printing more affordable for cost-conscious small businesses. In fact, you can print for as low as 6.0 cents per color page, so you can think less about cost and more about creating the most colorful and impactful marketing materials with HP Vivera inks. Other innovative features also work to boost productivity and efficiency around the office. The embedded wired and wireless networking, and Direct Digital Filing features available on some models within the HP Officejet Pro L7650 All-in-One series enable you to quickly capture, share and manage documents. With 2,400 dpi CCD optical resolution flatbed scanning, you can preserve documents, photos and even three-dimensional objects. And, the 350-sheet second paper tray - included on some models and an available option on all - makes printing higher volumes a snap.

HP 640 Inkjet printer is defective. When unable to begin operations based on set-up instructions in manual,
called HP Service number provided. After ultimately finding the appropriate tech service person, he prescribed various diagnostics to get machine operative. All failed. He informed me that it was defective.
HP refused to replace the new machine that was bought. HP said the only remedy was to return the defective new machine to them at customer's own expense. And that HP would only replace it with a used refurbish machine. Service people were rude and continually placed customer on hold. Poor product, poor service.

Brother LC61BK Ink Cartridge (Black) Review

Brother LC61BK Ink Cartridge (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased 2 Brother LC61BK (black) ink cartridges from Vivamart which I believed to be STANDARD yield cartridges, instead they shipped me STARTER CARTRIDGES!! I spoke with a representative from Brother to confirm yield stats on the cartridges and he said that the STANDARD ink cartridge has a 450 page yield per cartridge. He said that a STARTER cartridge is only HALF-FULL and therefore, has half the life (or less) of a STANDARD cartridge. If you read the Technical Details section for this item you will see that Vivamart posted their product under the item description for a STANDARD YIELD CARTRIDGE (450 pages) - and yet never fully disclosed that the item they were selling was not as advertised and that it only had a 200 page yield per cartridge, maybe.
Another thing, I have no idea if these cartridges are expired or not, as there was no expiration date stamped anywhere on the item. Also, they didn't come in a box, and that is typically where you will find the expiration date.
