(More customer reviews)My workplace uses Seiko 420 and 450 label printers to print address labels and Code 39 barcodes. As with other reviewers, we have found that these printers have difficulty keeping output alignment straight when using labels less than the maximum height supported by the printer (i.e., the 1.13 x 3.5 inch small address labels), even when the label guides are fitted to the label roll. When the printer is upright, output tends to either slant towards one side of the label and can print outside the physical margins of the label. Our solution to this problem is to turn the printer on its side. This usually helps to keep output alignment straight. The SLP 450 seems to keep a tighter grip on the labels than the 420; so the 450 is a little tougher to fix when labels mis-feed.
We've had no problems using the bundled SmartLabel software for printing single labels, though we typically use Microsoft Word or Excel to print multiple labels at a time. I've noticed that our printer technicians sometimes have difficulty setting up the label printers, but the trick is to ensure that paper size, margins, orientation (portrait versus landscape) are set properly.
Overall, the SLP 420 and 450 printers are decent products, though maybe a bit tricky for mainstream users to set up or troubleshoot. The SLP 420 is slow when printing in Fine mode (203 dpi), so choose an SLP 450 over the SLP 420 if you intend to print many labels daily, because the SLP 450 is much faster. Perhaps Seiko could move the label guides closer to the traction feed in a future product revision to help keep output consistently straight. Seiko's newest label printers are a good fit if your shop already uses Seiko or compatible label printers. Their ownership costs become competitive with Brother label printers when the Seiko printers are paired with high-capacity rolls (some of which require an external label tray).

(More customer reviews)This nifty little printer is an amazing timesaver and a really useful tool. I'm constantly setting up files for my office or making mailing labels, etc. I used to use the Avery page sized labels, but would end up wasting so many because I only needed one or a few labels. This machine will print the labels as you need them! No more piling up lists of labels and saving them up until you have enough. No more using up a whole sheet of labels for just one label. This machine is extremely easy to use. It has many different fonts to choose from. It will automatically shrink the font size to fit the label if you have lengthy text. You can add graphics, frames, etc. Its software saves the labels, so that you can just click and print on often used labels. One piece of advice -- I would definitely purchase at least the SLP200 (I think there might be an even newer one out there...) I've had both the 100 and the 200. The 200 prints quicker and cleaner and has more options. It also will print both the 1 and 2 inch labels. The difference between the two models is huge and well worth the money. Happy printing!

(More customer reviews)I opened the packing box 10 MINUTES AGO, and both of my printers are up and running on every PC.
I was a little worried when I saw the 'documentation' was smaller than a CD, but everything went off without a hitch:
Step 1: Power up the USB server with no USB device hooked up to it, and connect it to the network via RJ45.
Step 2: Install the software (if WinXP, use the unsigned drivers). Your OS searches the network at this time and finds the USB Server.
Step 3: Hook up your USB devices.
THAT'S IT!!!
If you have a Multi-Function printer, you NEED this device, because even if you find a compatible print server, it will only let you use the print function. A Printer Server turns your Multi-Function printer into a Uni-Function Printer.
With this device, it will be just as if the printer were directly connected to your PC. In fact, you are not limited to PCs; you can connect ANY USB device to it (camcorder, scanner, webcam, even a mouse or keyboard).
The ONLY advantage that a print server has over this device is that with a server, multiple PCs can control a target device at once (really, that's not quite true, since the requestes are put in a queue).
With the USB server, every PC uses a little administration program. When launched, it opens a window that lists all of the devices that are connected to the USB server. A PC on the network that wants to use a device (i.e. print) needs to first take command of that device. You just select the device by name, and hit the connect button. From that point on, it's as if the printer were plugged directly into your PC. Others trying to use the printer would see that you were subscribed to it; they would have to wait until you release the subscription - which you have to do manually.
They could really use a virtual queue that keeps checking until the subscription is open, then releases the subscription when the job is completed. The problem is that if the device isn't a printer, how does it know when the job is finished?
So, even if you have only one PC on the network, you need to request access to use the printer. On the (sort of) bright side, every time you power up the PC, it will remember who owns what. I think the memory is maintained in the USB Server itself, not the PC. So if a PC takes control of a device, then dies, cycling power on the server releases all devices.
This is a little hokey (they claim they MIGHT fix it in a later release) but it's 1000% better than losing printer functions you paid for. They have an 'Admin' panel on the software, but I don't think it currently lets you boot someone off of a device.
If you already installed the devices you want to share, then once you connect to the server, every device will show up by name. When you take control of one or more of the devices, Windows goes through the 'new device ready' popup.
If you haven't added the device to your PC, then the server will show a default name for the device. Once you take control of it, Windows will detect the PnP device, and start the 'add new hardware' wizard.
It's truly as if the USB server didn't exist, and you had a REALLY long USB cable.
I have a Canon i950 Photo Printer, and a Brother 9600 MFC.
The Brother is particularly painful in that it won't even work with most printer servers. In fact, Windows XP doesn't even have a dedicated driver for it; Brother has all but stopped supporting it.
I was highly skeptical, but the MFC's scanner worked right away. As for the Canon, I launched the Status Monitor, and was soon seeing I had to replace an ink cartridge. So, the USB server is bi-directional, too (most Print servers aren't).
It took me longer to write this review than it took me to get the server up and running.
I can't recommend this product highly enough!

(More customer reviews)This scale is by DigiWeigh, I'd never heard of the company but this was a good priced scale and could be powered by USB which was one of the things I was looking for. The scale arrived and was DOA, it wouldn't display anything but 0.00. I went to DigiWeighs website and followed their directions for support. I got a generic response that the item would need to be sent in for repair or replacement. So I'm into the scale another $10+ to ship it to them. I used delivery confirmation to make sure it got there which it did. Their site says they will update the RMA status once they receive the package. I waited a week, no status update. I finally emailed their support and they said the replacement was on it's way back, even though the status on their site was still pending. The replacement arrived and I tested it right away, this one didn't display 0.00, it just randomly jumped up and down numbers. I decided to take it apart and take a look, there are a few wires that connect the weight to the PCB board inside and slight movements of wires and the display would go crazy. I was able to position the wires just right and get an item to weigh, but when I moved the scale the numbers started jumping again. I'm not going to send a second scale back and waste more money on this product, I'll just cut my losses and go with a brand I can rely on.

(More customer reviews)For those who regularly ship through the USPS or even UPS, this little machine will save you time and money. It holds large rolls of labels and requires NO ink. There are no ink refill costs. With very few moving parts, there are less opportunities for malfunction or breakage. Used and refurbished units are generally a safe buy. I've been using a refurbished machine for 2 years and have printed thousands and thousands of labels with NO issues. I would suggest that one conduct thorough research as prices for these machines can vary greatly - especially for not-new machines. I would also suggest that users consider investing in better quality labels for shipping use. Cheaper labels seem to print less darkly than those that are higher quality. Lastly, extended exposure to intense sunlight or heat and the gum of most tape will darken thermal labels. To keep from losing your printed information (and addresses) refrain from taping over the labels and avoid extended exposure to intense sunlight and heat.
As far as specifics go, I use the Zebra LP 2844 thermal printer with a desktop PC and Endicia postage software.

Was a little hard to get the drivers correct with Windows 7.0, but now we have no need for a price gun any loger. This machine ties the computer info to the merchandise perfectly, prints the bar code with no problem. We are still trying to get our logo onto the label. Love it, well worth the investment.

(More customer reviews)It's a receipt printer and there's no need to make things complicated. The Samsung (Bixolon) printer is simple to operate; up and running in less than 3 minutes out of the box. Comes with a driver CD and works flawlessly on Vista. Unpack it, insert the paper (drop straight in and leave a a bit hanging out), close the lid, plug in the power and USB cords, turn it on and print! The feed is fast, the cutter is clean and the print quality is good. Maybe a little light at first. With it's USB connection and driver settings, the SRP350 shows up just like any other printer, so you can literally print anything to it. You can make custom invoices like I did through MS Excel or any other program. Even graphics print well, so I'm not sure what the other critiques are talking about. The sample paper roll is pretty healthy so no need to run out and by more for at least a little while. Take note that there is no supplied USB interface cable (as stated). If you are just beginning your small business or even run a large one, this printer will do the trick. There's not much to it and there doesn't have to be!

(More customer reviews)The PAC C2R-FRD1 really does what it is intended to do. It makes installation of an aftermarket HU easy when you have a Ford CanBus unit in your car. I had a Shaker 1000 and this wiring harness made it simple enough for me, a complete novice, to install my new HU. Just connect a few nicely labeled, color-coded wires and plug and play away! It saved me from having to splice into my factory wiring harness, therefore, when and if the time comes for me to sell my car I can easily re-install the Shaker. A lot of people said that I didn't need this harness, but I'm glad I got it. It was well worth the price, and by the way, Amazon had the best price around.

(More customer reviews)Purchased this item several months ago. It works great printing labels for envelopes, files etc. There is no ink, it uses thermal imaging instead. It only prints in black and white, but does the job cleanly and the density of the black is comparable to regular laser printers. It uses fonts and typefaces in your word processing program, so there are a lot of fonts/typeface choices. You can copy jpg images and paste them on your label, with the ability to shrink or resize them. Simple graphics are obviously better because the labels are small. You also have the ability to save anything you create. It comes with several templates, and it can automatically add bar coding to your address labels. It can print on several different standard size labels. So far, no paper jams. Nice unit that performs it's job very well. Good for home office and small business use.

(More customer reviews)I have been using this unit for about 2 years now, and there are two things that I can not get past. Using the keyboard is horrible due to the A to Z layout. A QWERTY board would have been 1000 times better. I have used a variety of labels, and even the flexible ones uncurl off the wires after a month or two. Not good for labelling wires. Great for office items.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this unit on Thursday Nov. 11th with two day shipping and got it the next day. Pretty impressed with that. Installing this unit was a breeze and it fit perfectly in my 97 Ram. For the price, great unit. I was impressed with the quality of the build... especially the RCA outputs having rubber coated jackets with attached rubber caps when not in use. Bluetooth works great and LCD screen is sharp and bright. USB only supports up to 249 tracks of audio and SD slot only supports 512kb. The only down side is that I didn't recieve the remote control with the unit, which has limited me on some features that can only be accessed by remote. SSL customer service is somewhat frustrating as I can never get anyone to call me back about getting the remote sent, but I'll keep trying. But overall I'm very pleased with the player. Does everything I want for a great price. Since I couldn't find any reviews on this product before I purchased it, I hope this helps someone along the way.

(More customer reviews)The white on clear tape (this item) with strong adhesive is laminated and great for weather exposed conditions, or on places where you don't want the label to come off too easily. Because the text is white on a clear background, it's also an excellent choice when you don't want the label to stand out too much on a dark item. Even though the tape is about 26', you can conserve some of the length when printing multiple labels by setting your margin to 'Continuous' on your Brother labeler and printing several off in a row before cutting the last one from the device and using scissors to separate the individual labels where they are marked.
