(More customer reviews)I'm surprised by the negative reviews for the DYMO LabelMANAGER 300 & 200. I own the 200 for the office & am buying the 300 for use at home. PLEASE NOTE: If you like labeling (I've become addicted), there is a HUGE difference between Dymo & Brother - the ease of exposing the "sticky" side of the tape. Dymo tapes all have a split down the middle of the back which makes using them a BREEZE!!!! This is VERY IMPORTANT!! So important I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned. I even gave my Brother Touchpoint away because of this, my secretary & I found it too cumbersome to remove the label backing and I was tempted to throw it away rather than subject someone else to this lack of design.
The font selections are very easy and intuitive with these models, I'm surprised that others found them difficult. Also, a big bonus is the keyboard. They are large & very easy to use. With this purchase I'll own 3 labellers, all by DYMO, believe me, you can't beat their label tape design...

The Dymo LM200 is a complete and versatile labeling system designed for your office. It opens and closes like a notebook computer and resembles one, too. Open it to reveal the keyboard and label previewer. Snap it shut, and all the workings are protected.
A clear, 15-character LCD makes it easy to edit and preview your labels before you print them. The LM200 accepts 0.25-, 0.375-, 0.5-, and 0.75-inch tape. Brother Adhesive Tape 1 -Inch, White on Clear ( TZS155 ) Review

Because the text is white on a clear background, it's also an excellent choice when you don't want the label to stand out too much on a dark item. Even though the tape is about 26', you can conserve some of the length when printing multiple labels by setting your margin to 'Continuous' on your Brother labeler and printing several off in a row before cutting the last one from the device and using scissors to separate the individual labels where they are marked.

Brother Pt-1200 Label Printer 1 Tz Tape Cutter 6 AAA Batteries Review

(More customer reviews)I'm so disappointed with the PT-xxxx line of labelers. The problem is that they FORCE the lead out on the tape to be 1". So, by default, you're wasting 1" of tape on the front and back. Not only is it a waste of tape, but I use this primarily for printing CD labels--something which does not have 1" on either side to spare. The PT-1200 (and other models too) have a "margin" feature, which allows you to reduce the 1" margin to something much smaller--HOWEVER, the only thing it does with this feature is to print on the tape a few dotted lines to MANUALLY cut on. So, not only are you STILL wasting tape in the lead-out, but now you have to manually cut on the dotted line with scissors (the end of the label is stopped properly at the margin width you set, but is still wasted on the front). This is the second model from Brother that I will return and I won't buy another Brother labeler in the 1000 series. The PT-85 that I used to have worked fine, so apparently they made it worse with new features in the 1000+ series.

If your objective to buy this is to have the basic functionality of any labaeller thas is clear and legible, does not include any fancy footwork like changing fonts, font size, storing data,it is perfect. Else, you might want to keep searching.
Based on performance, I am not disappointed and would recommend it.

(More customer reviews)When I bought my Brother label maker, I bought two extra cartridges because I knew I'd be using it alot. Well its been almost six months, and I use the labeler every other day for something, and the cartridge that came in the labeler is still going strong. I've had no problems with running out or the labels not sticking. The only problem I have had was when I try to take the paper backing off of the label...maybe Brother could devise an easier way for a guy with no fingernails to get the backing off easier.

Brother P-touch Electronic Labeling System, Royal Blue (PT80SCCP) Review

(More customer reviews)I love this little labeling system and have used a few different ones in the past 2 years since I adopted the Getting Things Done system. The system is really neat and though I am not always faithful, when I adhere to it, I am able to get things done, indeed. A labeler is critical for this system and important for organization in general and this little guy does the job.
Pluses:
-Small
-Quick
-Very nice printout
-Easy to use
-Ready-made formats for VHS/MiniDV/CDs/File tabs/Dividers
-Easy-to-obtain refills
Minuses:
-No AC power option! Even if it were an additional $20 I would do this because it is a...
-BATTERY VAMPIRE! It goes through fresh batts at an incredible rate, even using nice fresh Duracells.
[Note: I want to say that I wish this at least took AAs instead of the tiny AAAs because the small size increase means almost a tripling of the power and would be well worth it for this device. Also, some other reviewers have noted that you could use rechargeable batteries, but I find that with the always-highly-rated Eneloops, I get the "Low Batt" warning almost immediately.]
-Semi-expensive ribbon refills
-A moderate amount of ribbon waste
Overall, this is an outstanding product and is essentially perfect in function, I hold back one star given some of the practical issues on using it regularly, namely the lack of AC adapter option in the setting of pretty voracious battery use.
For folks who use it only intermittently, I give this 5 stars.
For folks using it daily, I would caution you to consider a model with the AC adapter.

Brother PT-1950 P-touch PC-Ready Labeler for Small Workgroups Review

(More customer reviews)An idealized P-Touch labeler is close to the PT1950 because from the cheapest to the most expensive models in the P-Touch range, the PT1950 supports the smallest font point size for all labelers: 6 pt; 0.75" wide tape [largest available being 1 inch], all TZ tape types, ships with an AC adapter, supports USB connectivity, includes PC software and performs most options found on the more expensive models.
With USB connectivity, features not available from the 1950 natively are accessible via the PC software, further extending the versatility of the 1950. With the included printer driver, literally any application can be used to format labels. For example, the Brother website suggests the 1950 cannot print bar codes, but it can through its PC software. Windows XP fonts, in all shapes and sizes, are printable. Thus, at worst, you don't need any functions on this machine, just a basic P-Touch printer to use on your PC. Whatever built in functions just make the 1950 portable.
With small font support, I can print densely packed labels that not just identify items, but instruct on its care and use. Name tags can contain more than just identifier information.
I've used 2 P-touch machines so far and they've held up well. The costly tapes are worth the money since they are durable, but the types should be used judiciously. With cartridges, its easy to swap out cheaper P-Touch tape for general purpose like labeling folders, from higher quality tape for semi-permanent jobs such as labeling computer cables. Jams rarely occur, and if they did, its often from dirty heads.
I will append this review if it turns out the the 1950 hasn't lived up to its reputation for reliability, as my other P-Touch printers have.

(More customer reviews)Labels are clear and sharp and are great to look at. The problems are that it is set up to be wasteful. For example, the default text size is LARGE and I rarely want large; then it adds a lot of tape prior to printing the label and then after it. You literally waste more than half the tape. A work around for that if you have a number of labels to make is to make one big label and separate the words by a few blank spaces, then print the whole thing at once.
I can't get myself to put out another $20 for the AC Adapter, that's what's needed.
With those caveats, it's a good labeler.

(More customer reviews)This is one of the best P-touch labellers I've used. The (pseudo) QUERTY keyboard makes it wasy to input text. Functions are clearly labelled and easy to reference without a manual. Five size and multi-line text and 9 memory locations to save frequent printed labels. Also quick access to change tapes on the top.
The Amazon price is great as well. You won't be disappointed!
