(More customer reviews)My workplace uses Seiko 420 and 450 label printers to print address labels and Code 39 barcodes. As with other reviewers, we have found that these printers have difficulty keeping output alignment straight when using labels less than the maximum height supported by the printer (i.e., the 1.13 x 3.5 inch small address labels), even when the label guides are fitted to the label roll. When the printer is upright, output tends to either slant towards one side of the label and can print outside the physical margins of the label. Our solution to this problem is to turn the printer on its side. This usually helps to keep output alignment straight. The SLP 450 seems to keep a tighter grip on the labels than the 420; so the 450 is a little tougher to fix when labels mis-feed.
We've had no problems using the bundled SmartLabel software for printing single labels, though we typically use Microsoft Word or Excel to print multiple labels at a time. I've noticed that our printer technicians sometimes have difficulty setting up the label printers, but the trick is to ensure that paper size, margins, orientation (portrait versus landscape) are set properly.
Overall, the SLP 420 and 450 printers are decent products, though maybe a bit tricky for mainstream users to set up or troubleshoot. The SLP 420 is slow when printing in Fine mode (203 dpi), so choose an SLP 450 over the SLP 420 if you intend to print many labels daily, because the SLP 450 is much faster. Perhaps Seiko could move the label guides closer to the traction feed in a future product revision to help keep output consistently straight. Seiko's newest label printers are a good fit if your shop already uses Seiko or compatible label printers. Their ownership costs become competitive with Brother label printers when the Seiko printers are paired with high-capacity rolls (some of which require an external label tray).

I'm constantly setting up files for my office or making mailing labels, etc. I used to use the Avery page sized labels, but would end up wasting so many because I only needed one or a few labels. This machine will print the labels as you need them! No more piling up lists of labels and saving them up until you have enough. No more using up a whole sheet of labels for just one label. This machine is extremely easy to use. It has many different fonts to choose from. It will automatically shrink the font size to fit the label if you have lengthy text. You can add graphics, frames, etc. Its software saves the labels, so that you can just click and print on often used labels. One piece of advice -- I would definitely purchase at least the SLP200 (I think there might be an even newer one out there...) I've had both the 100 and the 200. The 200 prints quicker and cleaner and has more options. It also will print both the 1 and 2 inch labels. The difference between the two models is huge and well worth the money. Happy printing!

(More customer reviews)I have to admit I was very hesitant to purchase this; in many cases, even when a product claims Mac compatibility it usually is just a bare-bones port. When DYMO released v60-something of their software for Mac OS 10 (10.2, Jaguar) I decided to give it a shot. Man, am I glad I did.
This simple little device saves a lot of time. It works from most major programs, but I find a quick copy & paste into the DYMO Label program is just as quick.
Labels print in a second or two after hitting the print button (use the Preferences to bypass the Print Command Window altogether, BTW). This saves a lot of time (and cost) in regards to full-sheet Avery-type labeling.
I've only played around with the large format Shipping Labels (DYMO 30256, 2 5/16 x 4) but there's a wealth of sizes and shapes available.
Images as well as text print sharp, depending on format of the image. I've done all sorts of client labels as well using their labels for them; they're all quite happy with the quality and I believe more than one has purchased one of these.
The only problem I've come across is address book saving; I can't seem to get it to save an address. I'm probably missing something but, as mentioned above, it's just as easy to do a quick copy & paste, for instance, from OS 10's own Address Book (which would seem to be the ideal program for DYMO to tie into).
Pros:

Cons:
- A little pricey (but honestly worth it)
- Noisy (but only for the few seconds it prints)
- Not color (but, c'mon, it's thermal!)

(More customer reviews)This printer replaced an old Seiko Instruments label printer that had pretty much died of old age. I opted for the non-Turbo model as speed wasn't a necessity for me, plus it saved a few bucks. Within 15 min. I had it hooked up, software installed, and printing. The print quality excellent. Software installation was painless (Win98SE and XP Pro), as is changing the labels when switching between the various sizes this printer is capable of handling. I installed via the serial port since I didn't have a vacant USB port. The package includes everything you'll need to get started, including both a USB and serial cable, and a sample package of large labels.
I found a couple of bonus features that prove to be useful. First- you can share this printer over a network simply by configuration and installing the software on the other computers. Second- there is an additional piece of software titled "Address Fixer" that will correctly format any US address to USPS standards (including the Zip+4 zip code) via your Internet connection.
Overall, I'm very pleased with my LabelWriter 330 and would recommend it to others shopping for this type of product.

(More customer reviews)I read all the good an bad reviews on this topic. Basically, it seemed that if people had a popular printer it supported, they were very happy. If not, it didn't work and they were unhappy.
I went through the process of trying to make it work with an unsupported Lexmark Laser printer. The setup software could see the printer (through my wireless network and the printer USB port, it could see which model it was) But it didn't want to install.
About to give up, I pulled out my old AirLink APSUSB2 printer server instructions. The process worked, but I believe you will have to set up a fixed IP address to go through this process. Make sure the fixed ip is above your router allowed HTPS list of address, and that it is a trusted IP on your home router/firewall.
After you have configured a fixed IP through Arknet's "Networking USB Server setup software," you do these basic steps for Windows XP:
In "Printers and Faxes" window, select Add Printer. Click Next
In the local or network printer window, select local printer, but don't select "automatically detect and install....". Click Next
In "select a printer port" select create a new port. In the pulldown, select Standard TCP/IP port. Click Next
A Standard TCP/IP port wizard comes up. Click next
In the "Add Port" window, Enter the IP address you have set the server to as discussed above, for example 192.168.150.254
Put in a port name. I overrode what defaulted tere and used port1. Click next
Under the "Additional Port Information Required" window, select the "custom" choice and hit settings
In the "port Settings" box brought up, leave the port and ip as is, change the radial button from "raw" to "lpr", and put your port name (port1) in the Queue name entry box. Select OK
You will be be brought back to the additional port information reqd screen. Hit next. Then Click Finish, to finish the port wizard.
Next, you will get the install printer software window. Hopefully you printer is already there and available through Windows XP (mine was). Otherwise you might have to access some driver files. Click next
I the "use existing driver" box, I selected existing driver and clicked next.
Under name your printer, you can change the name and choose whether you want it to be the default printer. Next
Then you can print a test page, and complete the installation. If the test page doesn't work, try it one more time after the installation completes.
I have little/no experience with later windows products, and so don't know if all these steps are easily doable in these products.
But it worked on XP and surprised me when it did. Thanks, Airlink, for providing the instructions for this workaround that Arkview didn't.

(More customer reviews)Works great. I never used the included software though. I got sick of waiting in line at the post office so I bought this to print out postage. I use a software from my postage provider and can print out postage for any type of package. I just wish that Dymo offered a label for printing just the postage and not the postage with an address. I've figured that each postage and address label costs me 10 cents total (for both). Not bad really.
Another great thing about this is that it doesn't require ribbons or ink! It's not super fast at printing, but printing out a dozen labels doesn't take much time at all. Not fast, but certainly not slow.

Was a little hard to get the drivers correct with Windows 7.0, but now we have no need for a price gun any loger. This machine ties the computer info to the merchandise perfectly, prints the bar code with no problem. We are still trying to get our logo onto the label. Love it, well worth the investment.

(More customer reviews)I'm surprised by the negative reviews for the DYMO LabelMANAGER 300 & 200. I own the 200 for the office & am buying the 300 for use at home. PLEASE NOTE: If you like labeling (I've become addicted), there is a HUGE difference between Dymo & Brother - the ease of exposing the "sticky" side of the tape. Dymo tapes all have a split down the middle of the back which makes using them a BREEZE!!!! This is VERY IMPORTANT!! So important I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned. I even gave my Brother Touchpoint away because of this, my secretary & I found it too cumbersome to remove the label backing and I was tempted to throw it away rather than subject someone else to this lack of design.
The font selections are very easy and intuitive with these models, I'm surprised that others found them difficult. Also, a big bonus is the keyboard. They are large & very easy to use. With this purchase I'll own 3 labellers, all by DYMO, believe me, you can't beat their label tape design...

(More customer reviews)I bought this printer hoping to use it on Ebay Paypal to print shipping labels. Well it works perfectly as a label printer on Paypal/Ebay. It has saved me a ton of time and worth the money I spent since I ship frequently.
For example in paypal if I have to ship ten orders using the multi shipping tool I print all ten labels at once. You have the option of printing a packing sheet to a regular printer that tells you what is to be packed in each order for the labels just printed. You need to know the weight for each shipment before printing the labels though.
Its appears that the Dymo printer is compatible with Zebra printers. Use the multi shipping tool in Paypal and set your printer to a Zebra 4X6 printer. If you are not using multi shipment in Paypal be sure to set your printer type to thermal and pick one of the Zebra 4X6 printers.
Other reviewers said the printer jams frequently. I have no such problem. What I think may have happened to that reviewer was they did not discard the first labels. Before you install a new roll for the first time you have to remove a small piece of tape from the roll. Unfortunately that tape leaves a sticky residue on one of the exposed labels. If you use that label it will put that same sticky residue in the printer causing labels to stick and jam. Dont take the chance and just get rid of the first 2 or three labels on the roll.
One reviewer said the labels fade with time. Well its a "thermal" printer and almost every device that prints on thermal paper the "ink" fades. Its actually heat the "colors" the paper and that type of paper fades over time. That is a fact of thermal technology not a problem with the printer.
Extra credit: Take those labels you discard from the new roll and put them in direct sunlight for a few days.

(More customer reviews)If you're as obsessive about organization as I am, you'll love this little gadget. I use it to label everything from file folders to jars of spices or homemade jelly. The labels stay stuck and remain readable (although a trip through the dishwasher will fade the ink and may dissolve the glue). It's borrowed more often than my circular saw.
I do find that when you use the fancy font styles (such as italic or shadow) the text is less readable. The 2-line function works well, and the optional pictures are cute (but what prints doesn't match what displays in the slightest and they are distorted along with the text if you apply a font style). Text tends to print on the lower portion of the label ribbon rather than being centered horizontally.
If you've just punched in a long label, DO NOT suddenly decide to switch to or from the Big Caps size -- it will delete your entry.
If it starts behaving strangely, the batteries are low (which happens seldom. I've had the labeler for 5 years and changed the batteries once).

(More customer reviews)Works great. I never used the included software though. I got sick of waiting in line at the post office so I bought this to print out postage. I use a software from my postage provider and can print out postage for any type of package. I just wish that Dymo offered a label for printing just the postage and not the postage with an address. I've figured that each postage and address label costs me 10 cents total (for both). Not bad really.
Another great thing about this is that it doesn't require ribbons or ink! It's not super fast at printing, but printing out a dozen labels doesn't take much time at all. Not fast, but certainly not slow.

(More customer reviews)I have been desperately trying to get organized, and when I found this gizmo from heaven at a heavenly price, naturally I jumped on it. After a few weeks of labeling frenzy, much like one of my other fellow reviewers, the tops of my labels started fading, then the middles, and soon the entire text of all my labels, poof! disapparated! Yes! I am a Harry Potter fan, but not for my labels in invisible ink. Tried all of the suggestions from the website. Cleaning, changing batteries, labels, cartridges. No luck. Still shooting blanks. Of course no way to put in new ink cartridges and it seems like the ink ran out. So waiting to hear back from customer service. Will post back, when and if I do. Really sad-that my labeling frenzy has been thwarted!!

Dymo LetraTag QX50 Electronic Labelmaker Review

(More customer reviews)I bought the QX50 to help me get my files more clearly organized, and things like CD cases more neatly labeled. The print size is variable, and I've been able to print a wide range of sizes of type (prior reviewer said he was unable to print larger than 1/8" - he should reread the instructions). I love the fact that not everything needs to be in all caps, and I can print on two lines. The adhesive on the labels seems to be excellent so far, and I really couldn't be happier with my purchase!

(More customer reviews)If you have a gazillion wires, cables, powerpacks, etc. laying around the house and can't remember what they're for, you MUST get this labeler. It's manufactured by Dymo, and sold as the RhinoPro 1000. Although you can get pricier models with a few additional capabilities that may come in handy if you're an IT installer, this one does the job flawlessly for home and small business applications. In addition to printing horizontally, you can print vertically in either plain text, italics, or all caps on up to two lines. You can also underline or put all the text in a box. It's great for labeling wires because it has a feature that allows you to print wrap-around labels that make two-sided cable labeling a breeze. It even prints clean file folder labels, and has built-in symbols for electrical, safety, and audio/visual applications. Electricians and cable installers must love this labeler.
The device itself is very reasonably priced, but like most printers now on the market, the labels are where Dymo makes the money. But even they are reasonable and come in a wide variety of sizes, types and colors.
